I did not sleep well last night AT ALL! I woke up at like 4:30 with a stomach ache and I could not get back to sleep til like 6. I ended up sleeping later than I wanted to because I needed to catch up on the missed hour. I quickly got out of bed and brought my car to the shop for an oil change. I must admit though it was a nice walk home after I dropped the car off. It was a nice morning and it woke me up some.

I’ve been working on my new blog because I finally have my own domain name. It’s not quite ready yet, but things are coming along smoothly. I am excited about it.

I definitely needed a coffee today! Especially before I started writing.

I wrote three articles today for IRLF and Health Kicker and I was extra proud of those specific ones for some reason. I just thought they were some of the best articles I’ve written. I eventually got out for a run around 3 pm. I had a dreadful tempo run scheduled for today.

Scheduled was 2 miles easy, followed by 3 miles at short tempo pace (8:30), then 1 mile easy. I must say I had a surprisingly good run today. I feel improvement.

I felt pretty strong by the time I finished Mile 5, two weeks ago when I did this same run, I was dying by mile 4.5. I am also very happy that the tempo miles were all under 9 minutes. I honestly believe that mile 3 and mile 5 were longer because of how many stop lights I had to stop at. I felt right on target today.  : )

I ate this when I got home. Some Bear Naked granola and some Chobani greek yogurt.

For dinner I made the most amazing egg sandwich ever! I don’t know why it was so good, but I did not want it to end. I could’ve eaten 3 of them!

Woke up bright and early this morning around 8:45, yes that is bright and early for me. I did the cardio workout on my Shape Body Camp DVD. It felt great and I had a lot of energy so I’m sure I got the most out of it. I had a frozen NY Ray’s bagel for breakfast. It was just what I was craving. I love bagels and cream cheese!

I FINALLY made an appointment to get an oil change for my car. I have to bring it in tomorrow morning. I made sure to do some research on where to go and I found this great place a few minutes from my apartment. It got some great reviews and I feel confident going there.

Got one of my Mapcidy (dot) com articles done today. I wrote about the Blind Tiger and added it to my map.  I am writing another one later, but I’m not sure what about.

It was nice to eat lunch today at normal lunch time. I usually end up eating breakfast so late so my lunch is usually around 3 o’clock. In between breakfast and lunch, I enjoyed a delicious orange.

I ate lunch just a little while ago, while listening to Tina’s interview about her blog. It sounded great. I would be so nervous doing a radio interview, although it’s probably a lot easier than doing it in person.

Lunch was a turkey and muenster cheese sandwich with dijon mustard heated on a griddle. On the side I had a few carrots and peanut butter and a yummy pickle. I am  obsessed with pickles recently, they are so refreshing.

Ohh and I watched the first episode of True Blood last night and I liked it. It wasn’t amazing, but I wasn’t expecting it to be. I’ve heard it’s a great show and it gets better as the seasons progress. I definitely liked it enough to continue watching, especially since I bought it for Derek on Blu Ray.

Okay, time to go knock a few more things off my to do list!

I had a wonderful weekend. I went to Central Park bright and early Saturday morning for a Team in Training group run. I had a 9 miler scheduled, but the groups were running 10-12 miles so I opted just to go ahead and do a 10 mile run instead. It was a beautiful day out and it ended up being a really great run. It was probably 38 or 39 degrees and sunny.

  • Calories Burned: 1,029

I was STARVING by the time I got home and I could not wait to eat my breakfast cookie that I had prepared the night before. I didn’t eat enough before my run either and was pretty hungry during my whole run, which sucked A LOT! But, I’ve definitely learned my lesson and I need to make sure I eat before my long runs.

My sister and Scott arrived on Saturday afternoon. We left shortly after for the King of Falafel and enjoyed some of the best falafel around. We hit up a great bar just a few blocks over called Sunswick, which is at the corner of 35th ave and 35th street. They have a huge selection of draft beer and it’s one of the best bars in Astoria.

Saturday night we had a party, a pizza party to be exact. We had 3 or 4 different homemade pizzas that were all incredibly delicious. There was even a dessert pizza made by Megan.

This was the pizza I made, I was really craving a veggie loaded pizza. I will have to make it again though, I don’t think I really ate enough to appreciate it.

This was the BEST thing of the night! Seriously this was amazingly delicious. I can not express enough how good this was. It was the best pizza there in my opinion.

We went to this really great bar called the Blind Tiger yesterday. I just got done writing an article / review about it on I Really Like Food, so keep an eye out for it tomorrow.

Today we hit up Pronto Pizza in Times Square, then went for a cupcake at Magnolia and a beer at the Heartland Brewery. Overall it was a great weekend and I’m so glad that Kerri and Scott finally got a chance to come down. They are great company and I really do miss hanging out with them as much as we used to.

I have a goal / career oriented post coming up tomorrow. Things have really changed for me within these past couple months and I have a lot on my mind. I’m ready to display and act upon new directions in my life.

I am starving right now! I am waiting for my rice to cook on the stove before I can eat. I am having leftovers. A piece of Chipotle Pepper chicken with Cheddar and Broccoli rice.

I CLEANED ALL DAY TODAY! Seriously, I cleaned the whole apartment and it was quite satisfying actually. I also wrote my three articles, got in a great workout, applied for another job, and had time to play some Beatles rockband! It was so much fun and I did pretty well considering I haven’t played in quite some time.

This morning I made Double Pumpkin Peanut Butter Oats. They were delicious, but I couldn’t finish it! I couldn’t believe it. I always finish my oatmeal, but today it was just too much and I left a little bit in the bowl. Oh well.

My oatmeal contained:

  • Cinnamon
  • Ginger
  • Nutmeg
  • Ground Cloves
  • 1/4 cup pureed pumpkin
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup water
  • a splash of vanilla
  • spoonful of Teddy PB
  • 1/3 of a Pumpkin Scone crumbled on top

I’ve been satisfying my sandwich craving the last two days and today I had this. A turkey and muenster cheese grilled sandwich with an apple and a pickle. So good!

Yes, it’s my birthday and I am having a way better day than yesterday. I woke up feeling pretty great : )    I had a 5 mile tempo run scheduled for today and wow was it hard! These tempo runs are definitely going to be the hardest part of my training. I look forward to seeing progress by the end though.

It was supposed to be 5 miles at mid tempo pace, which is 8:45 min/mile

I could not wait to be done by mile 5! It was rough and I didn’t really do too well with staying even relatively close to 8:45. I think I was all over the place with my pacing in the first mile and I burnt myself out. I would rather start out slow and finish fast and strong. Oh well though, I’m still figuring out my pacing and there is always next week.

I got home and realized I was missing one of my gloves, I was so sad and couldn’t find it anywhere in my apartment. I was headed out to the Natural Market anyway so I figured I would retrace the last steps in my run. I went to the market, picked up my favorite sandwich, some chips, and a smoothie and continued walking to where I had just ran. I couldn’t believe it when I actually found it! I was so happy, I had just got those gloves for Christmas and I would’ve been really bummed if I lost one. I’m glad I went out and looked!

I got home and ate the best birthday lunch ever!

A Turkey and Cheese sandwich on Rosemary bread with a side of Kettle Salt and Pepper Chips and a Super Detox Smoothie. It was perfect and satisfying.

I came back and wrote a few articles for I Really Like Food and Health Kicker that were on Football Party Foods and In Season Produce. After that I took a little nap with my cat and then went grocery shopping. I’m currently marinating some chicken in the refrigerator that will be made once Derek gets home. We are having Chipotle Pepper seasoned chicken with roasted asparagus and peppers. I am starving and can not wait to eat. I also bought myself some cupcakes from the grocery store to enjoy for my birthday.

It’s been a good day and I look forward to my celebration on Saturday night with all my friends and I am super excited because my sister Kerri and my brother in law Scott are coming down to visit!

I Hope I Get the Job!

I had such a good day yesterday! I wanted to write about it in a separate post. I was hoping to write about my day last night, but I was unfortunately exhausted and was done with writing for the day.

I woke up at 5:45 took a shower and was out the door at 7am. I was lucky enough to get on the ‘R’ train right when I got in the subway station. I got to my interview like 20 minutes early so I wandered the streets a little before going inside.

I was the first one there : )  I walked in the store and it was AMAZING! I haven’t been in a lululemon before and it was like heaven. There were so many awesome colorful clothes and it made me happy. The interview itself went really well in my opinion. It was a group interview and there were 6 other people there. They also mentioned that most of the other stores in Manhattan are hiring so I suppose if I do get hired that I won’t necessarily be working at that specific one. They are a great store and have really good beliefs and there is a sense of community there. I love what they stand for and I REALLY hope I get the job! I now just have to wait for a phone call to go in for a second interview.

After my interview, I hung out at Starbucks, while I waited for Derek to meet up with me. We went from there to the Landmark Sunshine theater to see ‘The Road’. I went into this movie knowing absolutely nothing about it and it was amazing. It was so emotional and I was fighting back tears the whole time. I pretty much just cried through my nose. I fought back my tears for so long and hard that they had no where else to go but out my nose and the back of my throat. I will be writing a review of it later at Mapcidy.com, so be sure to check it out.

We got home around 2:30 and I instantly got all my gear on and headed out into the warm 33° weather and tackled my 6 mile tempo run. Got back just in time to sit down and write for 4 hours. I had scheduled 4-8 as time to write up a few entries for Healthkicker.com.

When I was done with writing we went to the amazing BAREBURGER! Yes, it was just as amazing as it usually is. This is by far my favorite restaurant / burger place in Queens. It is so good. They finally got their liquor license too, so we were able to enjoy some delicious beer on tap! They had about 7 0r 8 beers on tap, quite impressive for such a small place.

And now, some food porn.

I got the original bareburger with Piedmontese Beef and it was perfect. I also got an Acai wheat beer, but unfortunately the picture I took is really blurry so I don’t want to post it.

It was one busy day that I was happy to end with a delicious burger!

From here on out I must think of every day as a work day. I feel like a new woman today. I am officially an intern at I Really Like Food dot com and I must contribute 15 hours a week towards writing for their site. I am very excited about this and I look forward to the challenges it will bring. I made an official work space today by organizing our unused desk.

My area is complete with a large wall calendar, a desk lamp that I just set up and a Snuggie on the back on my chair. It gets cold in the bedroom and I am right next to the window so a Snuggie is perfect because I can wear a blanket and type at the same time!  : )

I am an organized working woman now, who is still working for free, but hopefully after tomorrow I will be a working woman who gets paid real money. I have an interview tomorrow at lululemon in Soho. It’s a group interview so I’m going to have to try a little harder than normal. I want this job and I will get it so I have to make sure I stand out and talk a lot! I had a dream last night that I was really late to my interview and I ended up missing it completely. I was so upset in my dream and it was unbelievably real. It’s at 8 am tomorrow and I must say that I am glad it’s in the morning because it therefore does not allow me to think about it way too much before I go. Wish me luck!

On the food side of things, I made a delicious appetizer plate as my lunch today. We don’t have many things to eat as meals in the apartment so I decided to eat a little bit of everything.
