I woke up super early this morning at 7! I currently do not have a membership to a gym so I have to go with my room mate because he is allowed to bring me as a guest. He’s gotta work early so we planned to head to the gym around 7:15. I’m surprised I’m not back in bed, ha! Honestly though, I wish I stayed longer than I did. We were there for about 30 minutes, but I didn’t have my keys on me so I had to leave when Matt did. I decided to run on the treadmill because I didn’t think I would have the motivation to run outside later in the day. I was able to squeeze in a short run in the allotted time.

If I feel up to it I might just pull a 2 – a day. I’ve always wanted to try and run twice in one day. I would probably just run another two miles to up my total mileage for the day, I kind of feel like anything under 3 miles is unsubstantial. We’ll see though, my legs are pretty sore because for the past two days I have been doing workout dvd that always kicks my butt!

Anyway, I came back and made some of the best oats I’ve ever had! I made Cranberry Pumpkin Scones yesterday, unfortunately not from scratch though. I crumbled a scone over my oatmeal instead of adding the usual granola and ohhh man it was sooo good. I feel like I usually make my oats either too sweet or not sweet enough, but this bowl was perfect.

  • 1/4 c. steel cut oats
  • 1 1/2 c. water
  • 1 cranberry pumpkin scone
  • 1 tsp. honey
  • scoop of pb
  • a good sprinkle of cinnamon

I think I am going to need a nap later : )

I was so excited to get up and run this morning! I knew how warm it was supposed to be today. I had a nice 7 miles planned out and was so ready to run. It was nice because Derek and I actually woke up at the same time this morning around 9:30.

I wore capris, a sleeveless top and my nalgene ‘camelback’ which has been leaking the past few times I’ve used it. I thought it was from the mouthpiece and I figured it just wasn’t sealing properly, but it’s coming from the rubber around the mouthpiece. It has a hole in it! I was so annoyed running because my shirt was continuously getting soaked. By the end of my run I had to squeeze my shirt out because it was dripping with water. Other than that it was an excellent run. I felt really strong and fast and I didn’t even need the jelly beans that I brought with me. It was SOOOOO nice to run in that kind of weather, I seriously can’t believe how warm it is outside right now.

That is definitely my fastest 7 mile training run ever! I probably could’ve kept going and I would have, but I seriously couldn’t wait to change my wet clothes and get that thing off my back.

I ate the remainder of my Peanut Butter Clif Bar that I had before my run and drank some more water. Then, more oatmeal!

What is going on with the weather? It’s so freakin UGLY outside right now. I am proud of myself though because I actually mustered up the motivation to run. It wasn’t too cold out, but the wind was terrible. I literally had to fight and push my way through it. I did some speed work at the track and this week there was hardly anyone there. I’m not surprised, everyone is probably at home curled up in their beds. I felt a little weak today, kind of tired and I really couldn’t wait to be done. I blame the weather.

I ate half a pumpkin spice clif bar and drank a small glass of juice before I left. When I got back I ate the only thing we have in the house; oatmeal.

I crumbled the other half of my clif bar on top along with some granola, peanut butter, a banana, and honey.

For dinner, I made some Trader Joe’s Roasted Red Pepper Soup with some added pepperoni and shredded cheddar cheese. I also had a slice of leftover pizza from last night.

I did lots of cleaning today and some laundry. It’s nice to have everything de-cluttered and organized. Yeah, that’s what I do on Friday nights, it’s that exciting around here.

Boy am I tired today! It must be the weather outside, it’s not raining, but it might as well be. I woke up slightly earlier than usual this morning and it took a lot of persuasion from myself to get out there and run. I figured mapping out a new route would give me some extra motivation. I mapped out a quick 5K and tried to stay away from the main streets as much as possible. I must say that it was quite a success. My run was rather quick and I didn’t have to weave in and out of people. I must continue running on different streets so I can stay away from the crowds and busy intersections.

I came home and did some core work followed by a bit of upper body strength training. I’ve been trying to push myself to get back into the shape I was by this time last year, or even 6 months ago. I’ve gained at least 5 lbs since the beginning of the summer so I’m just trying to up my workouts. I went to the gym yesterday and it was definitely a nice change. Can’t wait to be able to get my own membership.

After working out was all said and done I whipped up some Steel Cut Oats, in a jar! In the mix was Bear Naked Granola, Honey, and a banana. It was then all poured into an almost empty jar of chunky peanut butter.

Applied for another job today, a one day makeup effects job that is also paying. Gotta go, I’m starving!

Oats in a Jar

I got this idea from a few of the blogs that I read and I knew I had to try it. I made oatmeal and put it into a just about empty almond butter jar. In my oatmeal I had a banana, honey and cinnamon. I then scooped it into the empty nut butter jar and ate it right from there. Yum! It was good. I scraped the sides of the jar and got delicious bits of almond butter. You should try it!
